The Union of Intergalactic States
Aesthetica, three months ago, signed a deed with Trident Foundries, Trinova Technologies/Nova Fleet Dynamics and RedEagle to forge a military and economic union. With the Elwyn galaxies drawing nearer, and the threat of war with the Vaygr Empire arising, how will the Union affect the universal stage?
First, we take a look at what the Union is meant to do. It is the NATO of Starmade, to say the least. Members defend and support each other in trade, provide aid, support, armament and ships to whomever needs it, but at the same time may attack together, coordinated. The Union was forged as a method of peacekeeping. So far, the Union has not been able to reach its goals for keeping the peace, which is unsurprising considering they haven't had much chance. With the advent of the Elwyn galaxies, however, it may be the only chance of proving themselves the Union has got.
The Union has taken steps to guess what would happen in a conflict with Vaygr, and with the help of the Order of Bogatyrs, results seem pretty accurate, given the circumstances. It seems the Union is prepared and knows what could happen, but what will the conflict do if either side wins? If Vaygr wins, the results would be pretty much what you would expect; taxation, and another dead galaxy, drained of resources and people with the will to fight back. If the Union strikes victory against the Vay, nobody knows what will happen thereafter. Chances are Vaygr will abandon the galaxy temporarily or permanently, and for a while, order, peace and prosperity to the galaxy will have been restored.
Thankfully, should this month-long rivalry escalate into a full-fledged war, both sides have agreed to shake hands and fight respectively.
